"I gave up all that inferior stuff so I could know Christ personally, experience his resurrection power, be a partner in his suffering, and go all the way with him to death itself." ~Philippians 3:10

We "lost" internet service over the weekend and I have been unable to post. It turned out that it was my own fault as I had inadvertantly switched our cable modem to stand-by mode. Of course I was angry that our cable company didn't fix it and was complaining the whole time saying "Welcome to Honduras". I really felt the fool when I found out it was my own doing. Oh well, life's a gas...you smell as you go!!

I was having a conversation with a friend on Friday and he says to me, "I'm closer all the time to wanting to be free like you." He was talking about the freedom I enjoy in being a part of Disciples' Fellowship. The freedom to explore this walk with God without a constant burden to do it all right, at least not as others judge it. I really do love the freedom we enjoy in our faith community. We enjoy a certain freedom from judgement that is not always true in most institutions (and let's be honest, most denominational churches are very much institutional). We also enjoy an incredible level of accountability because of the trust we give one another. There is this understanding that we sincerely desire to be active participants in a life with God and we sincerely care for one another and trust one another to be mindful of the journey we are all on. This really allows for the freedom of exploration and an awesome level of accountability to be present in our relationships at the same time. It really is an awesome experience.

Life here in Honduras has been very busy, Saturday we built a house for a woman in Nueva Oriental. It is probably a community we will spend quite a bit of time in this summer. Here is a picture of the home as it existed:

It took us about 20 minutes to move out all her stuff (She was not expecting us, so it was an awesome surprise) and take it apart. There were scorpions and a tarantula that were living with this family, uninvited no doubt. They are no longer living there now, as a matter of fact they are no longer living at all) and we hope that no more come to live at the new structure. As you can see the walls were made of plastic and the entire structure was about 10' x 10'. I never really get used to seeing the conditions that these families live in. It is almost always worse than you can imagine.

Here is the new home. Check out the view. It is such a stark contrast to see such incredible beauty in the midst of some of the world's deepest poverty.

The new structure is 18' x 15' and we even put up built-in bunk beds on the inside. Check it out!

I love doing this work!! Seeing the hope it gives is what it is all about.

Keep praying for our work and I pray you are enjoying the freedom in Christ that you were intended to have.
