Demonstrations return....
Well, we had 4 days of a relatively normal Tegucigalpa. That ended today as the pro-Zelaya demonstrators returned to the streets. No reports of violence, but there were reports of plenty of disrupted traffic flow and graffiti painting.
"Golpistas" is the name given to all the pro-coup government officials and supporters. You can find it all over the place. Graffiti is certainly not new here, but it is definitely being used to write the message of the pro-Zelaya crowd. "golpistas asesinos" and "ejercito y policia asesinos" are the two most common. They are calling the defacto government, army, and police "killers".
Lori and I went shopping today and got enough food to last a week or so. There are supposed to be the 5 day marches beginning tomorrow and we wanted to be sure to have what we needed if the roads became difficult to travel because of the people. Not sure how many will end up here in Teguc by the weekend. I'm going to give you two links to two different writers. One is a blogger that lives here in Honduras and one is a reporter from somewhere in the UK that came for a week. The two perspectives pretty much capture the polarization that is here.

One thing I becoming more and more convinced of is that there will have to be a long period of healing whenever this crisis finds a conclusion. The divide is pretty deep and there is a real your either for us or against us rift happening. Somewhere in the middle is the truth. There are no innocents among the leaderships of both sides, but as I've already said here (and I'm sure I'll say it again), the poor are being hurt more than anyone else.
