"I gave up all that inferior stuff so I could know Christ personally, experience his resurrection power, be a partner in his suffering, and go all the way with him to death itself." ~Philippians 3:10

Absolutely!

By John Francis Kavanaugh

It is no shame to be a frail and contingent human being. In fact, it is priceless to be so. It is, necessarily, to be loved into existence. Denying our sinfulness as church and Christians, insisting upon our success, our power and pomp, our greatness, as the proof of our being saved, we reject the cross as well as God’s love made manifest in Jesus Christ who died for and with us. Earning salvation, winning salvation, proving that we are good, competing for salvation, marketing salvation, selling salvation, guaranteeing salvation, are not only common expressions of the commodified gospel. They are rejections of the gospel of Jesus.
