this is the reading from our prayer breakfasts this week:

2 Sam. 23:2-4;

The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me; his word was on my tongue.
The God of Israel spoke, and Rock of Israel said to me:
'When one rules over men in righteousness, when he rules in the fear of God,
he is like the light of morning at sunrise on a cloudless morning,
like the brightness after rain that brings the grass from the earth.'

these are recorded as some of david's last words. how refreshing to think that david's relationships were such that he was "the light of morning" and "the brightness after rain".

god, grant me the grace to be these things to others. amen.
