i'm looking forward to listening to some good tunes and catching some different perspectives of the war in iraq and the israeli/palestinian conflict tonight at the b'ham cohort meeting. we will be at workplay catching a viewing of the film, I Know I'm Not Alone, a musician's search for the human cost of war. we will gather at 7:45. if you are in birmingham, come join us.
a thought that has come to my mind in regards to the promises of god (see yesterday's post)..... (watch me try to make sense of the ambiguity). god's promise in psalm 91:9-10 - If you make the Most High your dwelling, even the LORD, who is my refuge, then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. Ok, following god means that nothing bad will happen to me........riiiight. we have all seen that bad things happen to even the most godly people we know so how can this be true? the reality of life is that harm does come and disaster does come near... (watch me reason this out now)... maybe the promise is that there is no harm that will come or disaster that can come that will keep us from god. maybe the writer of this forgot to put that part in. maybe it is assumed that the readers would understand this. i am reminded of romans 8... for i am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of god that is in christ jesus our lord.
there, now i feel better having figured it out!
for those who care, my beloved Buckeyes are ranked #1 in both basketball polls. life is good. it is not often that both football and basketball get ranked #1 in the same school year.
