So much for England and Argentina...... rooting for Portugal now. Just looking for somebody new to win the World Fultbol Championship. The French, Germans, and Italians have all won before. I doubt I'll be able to see the semi-finals this week as we're too busy, but I'll definitely see the final next Sunday. I had a chance to catch the end of the Brazil/France game today at a Church's Chicken. There were probably 50-60 people in there watching with most rooting for the final Latin country, Brazil, to win. It's kind of wild when the fast food restaurant install television so their customers can watch the games. You see it all over here as the passion for soccer here far surpasses the passion you witness for anything in the States. Yes, even college football. That's not a knock on any of you back home, just want you to get a sense for the depth of passion for soccer here.
I've been thinking quite a bit about the ideas in my last post. Not sure yet where those thoughts are leading. I know that I have not been very active in my life in helping among the poor back in the states. I have done a few things here and there, but I think there is probably more I could be doing. I definitely need to make more of an effort to be aware of the plight of those who are poor or oppressed. Here in Honduras, it is so in your face that it is easier to see and work to meet needs. Because my life in Birmingham is so "suburban" I tend to be less involved. It is something that needs to change for sure. I'm starting by getting involved immediately with one.org. At least I'll be more up to date on what is being done and how I might help.
See ya soon.

Hey, thanks for stopping by today and throwing the boys around a little bit. They obviously had a good time. I'm just sorry that Lori couldn't stop out to visit too. But you all have a fun time building a house tomorrow. I'm sure that Joe will appreciate the help this time. Oh, and if you ever need me to read you a story in Spanish, I'll be more than happy to. haha.
Absolutely enjoyed every minute of it!! I intend to try to visit at least a couple times every week. I want those boys to know how wide the sea of love is that will be there for them. Keep loving them Jeff and thanks for beng there.
Sorry I'm slow on getting to this post; but we just visited an awesome ministry in Chicago -- www.lawndalechurch.org; might get some ideas there.
Mark,
Your needs, as you share them through the blogs, are prayed over. You are indeed a unique servant who the Lord has (and will) continue to lead to bless many others regardless of where He plants you to bloom:)
If you are interested in learning more about urban ministry, there are some great young urban ministers that can "spur you on to good works" for the Lord here in the states. Equally challenging to Honduras, but working under much different circumstances to help bring others to the Lord and all His hope, right next door to us in the inner cities
www.jagoo.blogspot.com gives a really good perspective of the challenge and what does and doesn't help:) Start from the original postings. (The recent posts regard his new marriage/honeymoon:):)
May God bless you and the lives you touch!
