A common question I get asked when people are asking me about DF is, "what do you guys believe?" I usually stutter and stammer about not really being able to pinpoint it as I am unable to speak for "we" and we are very diverse in understanding and practice. While listening to a podcast done by Doug Pagitt called Emerging Church and Postmodern Spirituality Debate (available on itunes), he said, "If you want to know the theology of our community, come and share time with us and live among us for a while. Theology is a living practice, it's not a set of ideas on any piece of paper." I think I'll steal this as my answer from now on.

I like it!! I have the same problem and even talked about DF today stammering about who we are in an "intitutional" minded discussion. Better yet steal it and put it on our website so at least a few will stop asking that question and move on to "real" questions which are truly directed towards God and not "us"!!!!
