"I gave up all that inferior stuff so I could know Christ personally, experience his resurrection power, be a partner in his suffering, and go all the way with him to death itself." ~Philippians 3:10

Really enjoyed the weekend! We had the opportunity to share some time with friends from Dothan. They are wrestling with God's leading in their life and their frustration with the current church they have been involved with. It was good to spend some time with them sharing the journey that God has brought us through in the development of our DF community and the parallel journey that some of them seem to be experiencing. Please pray for these brothers and sisters as they continue to discern what God is doing among them and their friends and families.

Saturday, a bunch of us went to a concert at the Palisades Church of Christ featuring Ethereal, Adam Wright, and Derek Webb sponsored by the Birmingham based Indie Community. It was a good time for all. Derek Webb (former lead singer in Caedman's Call) shared some challenging and encouraging words about God and church. I'll be discussing some of that in some future posts as I am still trying to think through a lot of what he shared.

Worship here at DF on Sunday was a very encouraging time. A few of our teens planned it and they had us focusing on praising God. As a result, most of the service was doing just that, praising God. Some of our middle school girls did a great thing as they led our children in thinking about ways they can praise God. It was awesome to see them take this leaership role and they really did a tremendous job. Greg led us into communion with thoughts about how there are many times when we don't feel like praising God because of various circumstances in our lives. We looked at Ephesians 1:3-14 and how God chose us before the creation of the world and our praising of Him is not dependent upon our circumstance or current situation because when he chose us, those current things were not even existent. He chose us long before our frustrations, disappointments, or difficulties were there. Praise God that his choosing of us is not dependent upon us and our situation, but it is based on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, his Son. Even when we don't feel like praising God, we still have reason to.

Like I said, it was a great weekend!
