"I gave up all that inferior stuff so I could know Christ personally, experience his resurrection power, be a partner in his suffering, and go all the way with him to death itself." ~Philippians 3:10

Went and saw Hotel Rwanda and I must agree with many others that it is a movie that we should all see. It is not a movie you go watch for entertainment purposes like you would Star Wars, Starship Troopers (great flick by the way), or Napolean Dynamite (jury's still out on this one!). It is not a movie that will make you feel good about the world and the way we handled the horror of Rwanda and probably other atrocities throughout the world. But it is a movie that reminds us that, thank God, there are individuals in our world that when faced with overwhelming odds and danger will choose to do good. It is a movie that reminds us that in the worst of circumstance, it is always good to do the right thing. It is a movie that reminds us that we are created in the image of God and that he is still active among us. It is a movie that, for me, has led to repentance. Pretty appropriate given that we are in a season of repentance (Lent). I repent for my ignorance. I repent for my lack of concern. I repent that I have been part of a Christian community that cares more about keeping prayer in schools than the atrocity of genocide. I repent for being part of a Christian community that is more concerned about stopping same sex marriages than stopping prejudice and injustice. I repent of being part of a Christian community that is more concerned with condemning and judging others for their sins than we are for the oppression and poverty that is evident all over the world. I am reminded of two passages of scripture:
Micah 6:8.... But he's already made it plain how to live, what to do, what God is looking for in men and women. It's quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in your love, And don't take yourselves too seriously - take God seriously. (from The Message)

AND
James 1:26-27.... If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he decieves himself and his religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. (NIV)
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner... Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner... Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner... Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner... Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner..............

You are right. We cause divisions when we should be encouraging and developing unity. We seperate ourselves from others instead of getting on there level. I repent too...Lord Jesus, have mercy on my soul, a sinner.
