I came across the following quote today. It is from a book by Thomas Merton (The Inner Experience).
...The followers of Charles de Foucauld have no special pastoral task allotted to them. They do not argue with people, try to convince them, try to convert them, try to make them amend their lives. They seek only to be with them, to share their lives, their poverty, their suffering, their problems, their ideals: but to be with them in a special way. As members of Christ, they are Christ. And where they are present, Christ is present. Where He is present, He acts. Their being, their presence, is then active, dynamic. It is the leaven hidden in the measure of meal.
It struck a chord with me as it speaks of where I am moving in my own walk. Just desiring to be among people and somehow reflect Christ. I have become much less concerned with arguing, convincing , converting, and convicting. I am especially struck by the last phrase about being active and dynamic. Jesus not only came and lived among the people (See John 1:14) in this way, but by word and deed, he actively and dynamically shared and showed the love of His Father to those He touched.

Mark your thoughts remind me of a quote from Mother Teresa "Love is a net in which souls are caught" What if we simply cast nets..and left the rest to God.
