"I gave up all that inferior stuff so I could know Christ personally, experience his resurrection power, be a partner in his suffering, and go all the way with him to death itself." ~Philippians 3:10

From ONE Birmingham: There is a U2Charist service coming up here in Birmingham. Here's the details...

Trinity United Methodist Church and Eastlake United Methodist Church (UMC) are teaming up to host a special U2Charist on October 17, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. at Trinity UMC. The U2Charist will be held in observance of the Make Poverty History movement's annual Global Day of Action Against Poverty on October 17.

Congregants at the U2Charist will have the opportunity to learn more about organizations involved in the movement, including ONE: The Campaign to Make Poverty History, Bread for the World, Church World Service, the Society of St. Andrew and Heifer Project International.

The "U2 Eucharist" will feature music from U2's catalog, including such favorites as Where the Streets Have No Name, Pride (In the Name of Love) and Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. The U2 Eucharist recently received international media attention for its innovative use of the band's biblically rich lyrics and social justice message, for its ability to bring together people of many different generations in a context of worship and as a tool for raising awareness and empowering communities to build support for and awareness of the Millennium Development Goals. The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), endorsed by 189 countries, aim to end extreme poverty by 2015.

Cool! Hope the service is a powerful experience for all concerned. If you go, could you pass the world along that I'm collecting prayers, playlists, sermons, and wisdom from U2charists across the diversity of the church for the U2charist resources page?

Many thanks, and blessings!

Dylan
