The time is now!
It was almost ten years ago that Lori and I made our first trip to Honduras on a two week mission with TORCH Missions. I was working as a youth minister with the Homewood Church of Christ in Birmingham, Alabama and my good friend Tim Hines convinced me that I should bring some students on a trip that would “change their life”. Little did we know that it would not only change their lives, but it would turn ours upside down.
A Spark Ignited
God used that trip to create a spark within both of us. We fell in love with the country, the people, and the work. Over the years that spark has been flamed into an unquenchable desire. We have had the opportunity to be a part of watching TORCH Missions grow from a two week, short-term mission to an organization that leads hundreds of students and adults a year to work and minister in Honduras. TORCH now builds nearly 100 homes a year and distributes countless amounts of food and clothing to those who need it.
Lori and I have been blessed to be a part of the creation of Mi Esperanza. A ministry dedicated to helping the women of Honduras break free from the cycle of poverty through education, training, and encouragement. Mi Esperanza also issues low interest microcredit loans for the establishment of small businesses that allows women to become self sufficient and economically stable while also creating a boost to the local economy. Lori is a co-founder and currently serves as the Executive Director, Honduras for this program. She currently spends a few weeks every couple of months in Honduras overseeing this incredible work.
The Work Explodes
We have been blessed to see and take part in the creation of the Interamerican Restoration Corporation (IRC). A group that is bringing in donated food, clothing and medical supplies each year that is making a difference in the lives of millions. We have been blessed to see and be a part of the creation of a children’s home that now houses 15 abandoned or orphaned Honduran children. We have had the opportunity to see and be a part of the opening of a free clinic in the small town of Santa Ana that now provides free medical attention in that community. We have been able to help build schools for communities that have none.
Over the past five years we have had the opportunity to spend most of the summer in Honduras establishing and building relationships and contacts, becoming more fluent with the language and culture, and praying for God’s direction. This past year we completed the process of becoming residents of Honduras and we are convinced that, through God’s leading, the time is right to move there and be a part of all of these things in a full time capacity. We are excited about the opportunity to work alongside others who are already there making a difference in the lives of the Honduran people. So here we go. Turning the page into a new chapter of our lives. We can’t wait to watch God at work and we want and need all of you to come along.
How Can You Help?
As with any mission, we will need your support. Certainly your prayers and encouragement are important to us. They will sustain us. We will also need your financial support. There are numerous ways that you can join us in our work.
Contact Us ASAP
We would love an opportunity to come and meet with you and share our vision. As a ministry, we intend to be a holistic, faith-in-action organization that strives to find and meet physical and spiritual needs. Many different humanitarian projects form the core of what we do and serve to validate the faith we profess through our efforts
We will be leaving for Honduras this May so contact us soon!

James 2:14-18
"What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed, but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do."
