The folks at Jubilee USA (a group calling for people to join hands to break the chains of debt) and Bread for the World (a group committed to working towards ending global hunger and injustice) are asking people to join them for a Cancel Debt Fast September 6 - October 15. It is a "rolling fast" which I guess just means that you can join in the fast as you are able....one day, two days, a week, whatever. As you fast they are asking for you to send letters and/or emails to members of congress in an effort to raise awareness in the movement to end global poverty and injustice. There is a lot of legislation aimed at making progress toward these things. The Jubilee Act, The Farm Bill, The Global Child Survival Act, etc. They make it real easy to send emails to your reps by just clicking the links. I've been doing this email sending on behalf of ONE, another group committed to raising awareness about global hunger. I think I'm going to join in the fast as a witness to caring about these things.

Take the time to go read about some of these things. The way I see it, every little bit helps. There is no one answer to these problems in our city, country, and world, but this is one way to be involved.
