I like it, too. When I was trying to figure out whether I was up to getting into a solo minister role, I was concerned with whether I was up to the "vision-casting" that I thought was necessary. Of course, before I could cast a vision, I would have to define one.
Then it came to me through a course I took -- I can't remember whether the teacher said it this way or if I was putting 2 and 2 together--that I was trying to re-invent the wheel.
The vision is already cast -- it's called the Kingdom of God -- and it didn't originate with me and it's not up to me to bring it in. I/my church just participate the vision. Our mission--if you want to talk about mission statements-- is to be/make disciples. The specifics of how that is accomplished depend entirely on the gifts God chooses to bless our fellowship with.
It's usually a mistake when the comment length surpasses th blog post. Sorry 'bout that.
