I have found it very difficult to sit still and blog recently. For whatever reason I can't seem to word my thoughts very well. It has taken about 10 minutes just to get this far and I have erased what I've written about 10 times already. Do you ever feel like you can't put your finger on how you feel? My mind just keeps wondering from idea to idea and won't settle anywhere for long. Consequently I struggle to stay focused and on task. Can anyone say lack of discipline? I'm beginning to believe that God is leading me to some form of disciplined communion with Him. That is the one constant that keeps coming up in my mind and my heart. FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS!
I have recently been reading about Lectio Divina. It is an ancient spiritual discipline that has been around for centuries. It has four steps: Lectio (read), Meditatio (meditate), Oratio (pray), Contemplatio (contemplate). A person dedicates a specific time and place to read a short passage of scripture, meditate on it, prat to God about it, and then contemplate its bearing on his life and current situation. I have a feeling that God has brought this to my attention. Since sometime during the summer God has continued to bring this idea of discipline and focus to my mind and I can't ignore him any longer. I don't know if Lectio Divina is the form that discipline and focus needs to take, but it is somewhere to start.
